Immigration

This is a post on immigration, what causes immigration, what are the drivers. Why can't people stay at home and make there life good there. I base it on my experiences and that of my town Bradford, UK. Bradford rose from 1800 into a small market town with almost no banks to being one of the richest cities in the world by 1900. The population increased 20000 per cent. They were people with good ideas, inventors of machines, ways of organising and working, They were in Bradford and nearby. The raw materials were at hand and nearby: coal, wool. They were able to reduce man's labour to achieve things, to produce cloth for clothes. The labour saving meant it could be produced at a good price and of better quality. They wanted people to operate these machines, thousands of them because they were 100s of mills. The want was there, the want for others to join them and people were happy to comply to earn money to prosper themselves. The need for immigration was created out of the ideas and the environment to nurture these ideas (no civil wars, others wanting their goods, resources, land to build houses). Thoughts, ideas, schemes can come from nothing. My family has no history at all of mathematical competence yet I'm good at it. Almost all my software experience is self taught - nowadays it is easier than ever. The support of your community, to work with you, to build things. Not the pound of flesh for doing next to nothing. Nowadays people come to places where the need is not as clear looking for something. But the ideas of the once rich places are easier than you think to replicate, to build yourself, to do the mathematical calculations yourself. The ideas are in books, journals, online. You take and understand the knowledge, the ideas, the ways to build the device. These were all that started it. You buy one tractor and look at it, you can see what it is that is a major step to being able to build it yourself. (is this not what many asian nations have done). This is a rambling post, because the issues are very intricate.
