Services. 2025-05-30 10:34:57 - Paul D. Foy - First Day of Contract This week I started yet another new endeavour, a new software project and it reminded me of starting a new contract. My old PC is almost disc full of projects and images and videos. So I started working on a new PC with a fresh installation of Microsoft Visual Studio. This was like the first day of a contract. So many things to sort out: files to copy across, helpful software to download (at least I don't have to get it authorised by the manager), and even a new mouse click and select properties to cause anxiety as well as the ever helpful prompts and completions (which seem to be slightly different) on the default properties of Visual Studio. Quite a stressful time, also mindful to get good initial design (saves a lot of time later). In the end I achieved my objective for the week and got myself in the position of being able to implement the feature (absent on an established product) that had motivated the work in the first place. Alas I had to do without the £1000 or so for the week's work as I was working purely for myself (that is my own satisfaction, interest and curiosity). :(. Post a comment: |
