Welcome to a brand of
Mathematical
Services.
Having now received a DNA Analysis of my origins I can say that firstly
there is a dichotomy
between recent origins and older more ancient origins. My recent
origins correspond closely with what I have learned
via tracing the written record - South Yorkshire (the last few hundred
years), which was originally
part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. However I (i.e. my surname,
fathers line) was totally absent in this region 350 years ago.
Earlier my genetic male origins were of that of the 'Atlantic Celtic'
branch living on the shores of
Western Europe, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Brittany having been pushed
about by Angol Saxon settlers. Also common in
Iceland and Norway via Viking slave raids.
My mothers line is less known to me (i.e. at a more ancient time
period, as recently (2-3 hundred years ago)
it is more known to me than my father's). It seems to have originated
from a woman East of the Mediteranean 17,000
years ago. I don't think that is much of a revelation, everybody came
from around there
as there was a migration out of Africa. What is a little surprising is
that my mother's haplogroup (formal term)
is now not common in England (where she now is) but is more found in
Russia, Romania, The Caucuses, Iran and Tunisia.
I think making sense out of the dichtomomy between old and new we'll
look midway. I know where I am now,
where I was 17,000 years ago isn't that important as it's probably the
same place as lots of people
as they sheltered from the Ice Age wherever they could.
